Lent 2017

Nothing, how little so ever it be, if it is suffered for God’s sake, can pass without merit in the sight of God.” — Thomas a Kempis

“As Lent is the time for greater love, listen to Jesus’ thirst…’Repent and believe’ Jesus tells us. What are we to repent? Our indifference, our hardness of heart. What are we to believe? Jesus thirsts even now, in your heart and in the poor -He knows your weakness. He wants only your love, wants only the chance to love you.”

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

“During these 40 days, let me put away all my pride. Let me change my heart and give up all that is not good within me. Let me love God with all that I am and all that I have.”  Unknown

“Fasting makes sense if it really chips away at our security and, as a consequence, benefits someone else, if it helps us cultivate the style of the good Samaritan, who bent down to his brother in need and took care of him.”  Pope Francis

Christmas, just the thought of this time of year floods the the heart with warm and wonderful memories of times past. Times that were simple and pleasant, times of great anticipation, of joy and laughter of warmth and love. Even now with the busyness of the season people of all ages seem to laugh more, care more, give more and feel the joy in their hearts more readily than any other time of the year. Children instinctively feel this due to the lack of cynicism in their hearts because that is where Christmas resides in that perfect little heart untouched by the world. The heart of the child in all of us allow us to act like children in this season, giving in to the Miracle  of Christmas and there by making our world a little better place to live in. We should embrace this child like heart more often and maybe we can extend the Miracle of Christmas a little longer. Imagine the reason for all this is because a child untouched by the world was born in a manger so long ago. God bless and Merry Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our parishioners.
It’s not about the blessings that we have been graced with, but how we use those blessings . To be grateful to help one another, to serve those who are less fortunate, to make even one life a little better, this is to be truly thankful .
God bless.
